Beginner's Guide to Forza Horizon 6

Welcome to Forza Horizon 6. Whether you're new to the series or returning from previous games, this guide will help you hit the ground running.

Getting Started

When you first boot up the game, you'll be dropped into the Horizon Festival. Complete the introductory races to unlock the open world and earn your first car.

Key things to do early:
  • Complete the Showcase events — they're cinematic races against unique vehicles and earn you big XP
  • Join the Horizon Festival main events to unlock car upgrades
  • Explore the map to discover roads, collectibles, and Bonus Boards
  • Earning Credits

Credits (CR) are the main currency for buying cars and upgrades. Here's how to earn them fast:

    Your First Car

The game gives you a starter car, but you'll want to upgrade quickly. Recommended early targets:

  • Nissan GT-R R35 — versatile, AWD, great for beginners
  • Ford Mustang GT — cheap, fast, and easy to tune
  • Subaru WRX STI — excellent off-road capability
  • Car Classes Explained

Cars are rated by Performance Index (PI) and grouped into classes:

Higher PI doesn't always win — the class must match the event type.

    Tips for Winning Races

  • Brake before corners, not in them — trail braking helps but learn the basics first
  • Use the racing line assist — it shows you when to brake and accelerate
  • Upgrade for the event type — road cars on dirt will lose to off-road builds
  • Rewind is your friend — use it freely when learning tracks
